In a powerful message invoking the Ramcharitmanas verse, “Bhaya Binu Hoye Na Preeti” (Without fear, there is no devotion), the Indian Armed Forces have sent a clear warning to Pakistan, Turkey, and China, asserting that aggressors will face unrelenting consequences. During a press briefing on Operation Sindoor, Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, Director General of Air Operations, emphasized India’s readiness to counter any technological threat, showcasing its formidable air defense capabilities.
The briefing, attended by DGMO Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai, Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod of the Indian Navy, and Air Marshal Bharti, clarified that Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, 2025, targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. The operation was not directed at the Pakistani military, but Pakistan’s armed forces escalated the conflict by supporting terrorists and launching attacks on India, including deploying Chinese-made PL-15 missiles and Turkish drones.
India’s response was decisive. Its multi-layered air defense system, including the indigenous Akash missile system and the S-400 Sudarshan Chakra, neutralized Pakistan’s long-range rockets, UAVs, copters, and drones mid-air, preventing them from reaching their targets. Subsequent Indian counterstrikes targeted Pakistani military bases, demonstrating precision and strength. Air Marshal Bharti reiterated, “All our military bases and systems remain fully operational, ready for any future missions if needed,” underscoring India’s preparedness.
Drawing a vivid analogy from the 1974-75 Ashes cricket series, Lieutenant General Ghai compared India’s air defense to the legendary Australian fast bowlers Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson, who took 58 wickets to decimate England. “Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if Thommo don’t get ya, Lillee must,” Ghai quoted, explaining that India’s defense grid, comprising vintage, modern, and international systems, forms an impenetrable barrier. “Even if you cross one layer, another will bring you down,” he said, highlighting the system’s depth and coordination.
The Ramcharitmanas quote, cited by Air Marshal Bharti, reflects India’s shift from restraint to assertiveness. The verse, “Vinay na maanat jaladh jad, gaye teen din beeti. Bole Ram sakop tab, bhay binu hoye na preeti,” translates to Lord Rama’s realization that when humility fails, fear must be instilled to ensure respect. This philosophical stance underscored India’s calibrated response to Pakistan’s provocations, signaling that while India seeks peace, it will act decisively against threats.
