An elderly woman, around 60 years old, was sitting by the roadside, selling Guavas. The price was ₹10 for 4 pieces. While a customer was paying ₹20 for a handful, another elderly gentleman, likely over 60, well-dressed and appearing to be a retired educated person, walked up and asked how the Guavas were being sold.
The old woman explained the rate—4 for ₹10. The gentleman insisted on getting 5 for the same price. When the woman politely refused, he argued persistently, trying to convince her to give one extra.
Eventually, out of compassion, the woman agreed and said he could take it. Unexpectedly, the man handed over an extra ₹10, and the kind vendor added 5 more Guavas to his portion.

But the man didn’t stop there. He asked for one more Guava. The woman declined, saying she had already given more than enough. She even told him to take his money back if he wasn’t satisfied. However, he forcibly picked up one more and walked away confidently, ignoring her repeated pleas.
The woman called out to him several times—“Babu! Babu!”—but he didn’t look back and kept walking as though he had just won a great achievement.
Onlookers were left shocked at what had just taken place in a matter of minutes. A deep sadness lingered in the air.
Trying to console the vendor, someone told her that the extra Guava wouldn’t make the man any richer. The woman, with a gentle smile, replied that perhaps he was poor and maybe his children would eat it.
Such a response revealed immense grace and kindness from someone with so little.
This incident stands as a quiet reminder to all:
Please don’t exploit the poor.
They do not sell s to grow their savings—they do it to fill their stomachs.
They sit in the scorching sun for hours just to earn enough to survive.
Let empathy extend beyond social media.
Be kind in action, not just in words.
One act of integrity can preserve someone’s dignity.
Choose humanity over greed.
